AMAX Talent is a full service agency representing fashion, commercial and lifestyle models as well as actors, hair and make-up artists, and wardrobe stylists. Cherylann Stephens, former director of Next and Wilhelmina in Los Angeles, opened AMAX's parent company, Maximum Artist Creative Services, in 2005 to fill the need for an artists agency in the Nashville market. In 2009 MACS acquired AMAX, a well known Nashville modeling agency founded in 1989. In 2012, AMAX was joined by Ginny Edwards Maxwell, a well-known model scout and mother agent. Through a strong emphasis on both local and direct booking, as well as scouting and developing local models for international placement, AMAX has quickly risen to become one of the premier agencies in the Southeast. AMAX models have been featured in campaigns for Calvin Klein, Celine, Jill Stuart, American Eagle, Ralph Lauren, Levi's, Tommy Hilfiger as well as walked the runways of Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Prada, Versace and Louis Vuitton. For more information on the agency, please visit AmaxTalent.com.

Nashville Fashion Week to Host an Evening of Photography + Fashion

Nashville Fashion Week to Host an Evening of Photography + Fashion

Nashville Fashion Week will celebrate art and photography at “An Evening of Photography + Fashion” on Thursday, April 6th from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at two Fifth Avenue of the Arts galleries and The Frist Center for the Visual Arts. Explore and celebrate how fashion and style have inspired and influenced the art in each of these beautiful exhibits.

The evening will begin at Tinney Contemporary Gallery and Rymer Gallery and guests will be transported to and from the Frist Center for the Visual Arts every 20 minutes by between 7 and 8:30 p.m. Shuttles are provided in partnership with the Nashville Downtown Partnership.

    Adam Shulman

Tinney Contemporary will feature Adam Shulman’s “Gold of Africa” photography exhibit. Adam Shulman has a strong connection to the continent of Africa. Married to a Senegalese model, and living between the Middle East, West Africa, and NYC, Shulman has immersed himself in West African, Middle Eastern, and NYC culture and fashion. As a self-taught photographer, he has pursued both digital and film media, and has shot everything from Arizona landscapes to NYC fashion photography. But Shulman is a dynamic individual, and has spent the past year living and working in Ghana, West Africa, where he trained local medical professionals on modern cancer treatment techniques. The artist will be in attendance at this solo exhibit that runs at Tinney through May 6.

"Tinney Contemporary is so excited to introduce the beautiful new work by photographer Adam Shulman to Nashville Fashion Week, a week that exemplifies the creativity within this community. This body of work is a perfect compliment to the innovative style and spirit that Nashville Fashion Week brings every year to Nashville and we couldn't be more  proud to be a part of it," says Susan Tinney, founder of Tinney Contemporary Gallery.

Rymer Gallery will present the art of Elise Wehle and Adam Thomas.

Elise Wehle’s mixed-media art was originally inspired by patterns that cover Andalucía in Spain, but it was the Alhambra, a Moorish palace covered in intricate, hand carved patterns, that influenced her the most.

Adam Thomas is a self taught oil painter. His pieces are collected by Nordstrom and Vogue editor Anna Wintour. Thomas now lives in Nashville.

Guests will end this special evening at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts Irving Penn: Beyond Beauty exhibit. Irving Penn (b. 1917, Plainfield, NJ; d. 2009, New York, NY) was one of the twentieth century’s most prolific and influential photographers of fashion and the famous. His pictures, a unique blend of classical elegance and formal innovation, were widely seen in print during his long career at Vogue magazine. His achievement, however, extends beyond conventional notions of depicting beauty or fame to include a radical reconsideration of how we understand fashion, photography, and art, separately and in relation to each other. The Beyond Beauty exhibit runs through May 29 at the Frist.

The Frist Center for the Visual Arts

Tickets to this event are $25 and include two drink tickets provided by Tito's Handmade VodkaNashville Ice Lab and Mouton Noir Wines with lite bites from MStreet at the Fifth Avenue galleries and transportation to and from the Frist Center. Admission to this event is included with the NFW All Access Pass and complimentary with the presentation of a receipt for at least $25 from any participating NFW “Shop Nashville” retail partner. Visit nashvillefashioweek.com for a list of all Shop Nashville Week participating retail events.

An After Party will be hosted at Bar Sovereign from 9:30-11:00 p.m. The Bar Sovereign After Party tickets are $20 and will only be sold at the door. Admission includes one drink ticket.

Nashville Fashion Week Makes Lots Of Announcements at Kickoff Party

We had a great time and made a lot of big announcements at the Nashville Fashion Week 2017 Kickoff Party at The Hermitage Hotel Ballroom last night. The event sold out quickly, but don’t worry if you missed it, here’s all of the inside scoop.

SIXTH ANNUAL NASHVILLE FASHION FORWARD FUND RECIPIENT NAMED BY THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE

Fashion photographer Brett Warren has been named the sixth annual Nashville Fashion Forward Fund recipient by The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee (CFMT). A committee of the Board of CFMT selected Warren amongst a group of experienced fashion industry applicants with ties to Middle Tennessee. Warren is the first photographer to be selected as a recipient of the fund.

Brett Warren lives in a world where anything is possible. While studying design and photography at MTSU, Brett became passionately inspired to present the world as it could be through images that would appeal to the mind and imagination. What started with a dream and a Nikon Cool Pix has turned into a means to convey emotion, and to share untold stories and convictions. Along the way he found encouragement through a personal encounter with Wayne White, a more-than-serendipitous internship with Annie Leibovitz, and invitations to shoot at New York Fashion Week.

Since 2011 he has produced multiple events, spoken at Universities, worked behind the scenes on sets for Vogue, art directed major label music videos, and had his work featured in local and national publications. In addition, Brett has been highly active in the local community by serving on the Nashville Fashion Week Advisory Council, and is an avid supporter of the Nashville fashion community. He has been recognized among his peers, for his “Point of View,” and built long-lasting relationships with those in and out of the fashion world.

While he has worked with easily recognized brands such as, Billy Reid, Surface Magazine, and GQ, he is just as passionate about working with some that may not be as familiar…yet.

Established in 2011, the objective of the Nashville Fashion Forward Fund of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee is to provide an award that recognizes the individual achievements of a fashion industry professional. The financial resources that accompany the award are intended to provide an experiential professional development opportunity for the recipient to further advance their career in the fashion industry.
